Ten lepers healed

[Ref. ss #6]

In Sunday School this week we put a magnet behind a piece of paper and a put on top a metallic picture of a man and moved him along the paper. So the man was pulled by the attraction of the magnet.

“The pointing of the needle to the pole symbolizes this all-embracing power or the attraction of God, divine Mind.” Eddy says in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures on pg 102.

Isn’t this "all-embracing power or the attraction of God, divine Mind” controlling us when we think good thoughts. Certainly the ten lepers felt Jesus’ power and it drew them to him like a magnet. This powerful attraction in Jesus was felt by most people who knew him and they were healed because he radiated God’s love and the love they felt healed them.

Read this account from Luke 17:12-19  of how ten lepers were attracted to Jesus. Because they felt the “all-embracing power… of God” they were healed instantly; just like correcting unwanted text on our high tech devices…. gone forever. Deleting was no miracle to Jesus either but he did notice that only one person came back to thank him for his technical know how! He added some understanding of it to the man who stayed to thank him telling him that it was his belief in the principles of God being utilised, had shown him his completeness for all time. He had got much more from the cutting edge Christ power, than the other nine.

This man had been hated as an outsider [being a Samaritan] as well as being an outcast as a leper. Lepers were completely isolated from the community. This man that stayed treasured that he had found something new!

Children listening to this story feel how those isolated men felt. They realise what wonderful freedom Jesus had given them.

Don’t we have a lot to impart to children by reading them the healings Jesus did? They relive these experiences themselves and it makes them feel good too. Children want to feel included! They know instinctively that they have a divine right to be loved. They dislike being compared to others; want to be free of the criticism and worry which makes us all feel inadequate and ill!

Let's consider this:-

"The entire education of children should be such as to form habits of obedience to the moral and spiritual law, with which the child can meet and master the belief in so-called physical laws, a belief which breeds disease." Science and Health pg 62.

The goodness in Jesus attracted people to him... there were 10 lepers who wanted to be healed.
