Healing of diarrhea and vomiting

“Our adult son had a healing of diarrhoea and vomiting, one night, in the far east. There had been reports of people dying of dysentery in the area because of impure water. He’d drunk some tap water that morning.

Late at night he came into his parents room retching in agony, very fearful, and pleading for us to take him to hospital immediately.  He'd forgotten that we were on a very basic and remote island far from such amenities. But we promised we’d strive to get him to the mainland the next day. 

In the meantime I told him I would pray as we had all through his life before he’d gone off on his own to university! He accepted this and got into the spare bed while I went and cleaned up his chalet.  It took me some time to overcome my regret at leaving tap water in a bottle and to remember that God governed everyone.

“I reasoned that as God made us; nothing we did could affect us as His reign is supreme over all. I realised I could see my son as harmoniously responding only to spiritual laws of well-being! ”

God only experiences health so his creation does too. Discord only comes with out-of-sync man. And as a family we had always known we were in-sync with God.

With this I calmed down and he came back wanting reassurance. Lying down in the dark  he tried to go to sleep so I recited the whole of Eddy’s Mother’s Evening Prayer.  Every sentence was applicable.  It starts “Oh gentle presence, peace and joy and power.  Oh Life divine that owns each waiting hour….”.  As I finished there was a sigh; he was asleep only to wake up a few hours later saying “Thanks Mum…. I’m OK now!”.  

After a good rest late into the next day he ordered a club sandwich and the whole incident was forgotten.

I am so grateful for this spiritual awareness that Mrs Eddy has enabled us to use in such a useful way. This came through turning to Christian Science.  Everyone can turn to it too by reading it’s textbook or contacting me if you have a need.
