GOLDEN TEXT
Oh that men would praise the Lord for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men! For he satisfieth the longing soul, and filleth the hungry soul with goodness.
RESPONSIVE READING
Nehemiah 9:5 Stand (to :), 6 (to 1st ;); 8:1, 3, 6, 10, 12
Revelation 7:12 Blessing
5. . . Stand up and bless the Lord your God for ever and ever:
6Thou, even thou, art Lord alone;
1And all the people gathered themselves together as one man into the street that was before the water gate; and they spake unto Ezra the scribe to bring the book of the law of Moses, which the Lord had commanded to Israel.
3And he read therein before the street that was before the water gate from the morning until midday, before the men and the women, and those that could understand; and the ears of all the people were attentive unto the book of the law.
6And Ezra blessed the Lord, the great God. And all the people answered, Amen, Amen, with lifting up their hands: and they bowed their heads, and worshipped the Lord with their faces to the ground.
10Then he said unto them, Go your way, eat the fat, and drink the sweet, and send portions unto them for whom nothing is prepared: for this day is holy unto our Lord: neither be ye sorry; for the joy of the Lord is your strength.
12And all the people went their way to eat, and to drink, and to send portions, and to make great mirth, because they had understood the words that were declared unto them.
12. . . Blessing, and glory, and wisdom, and thanksgiving, and honour, and power, and might, be unto our God for ever and ever. Amen.

The Bible
1 |Psalms 75:1
2Unto thee, O God, do we give thanks, unto thee do we give thanks: for that thy name is near thy wondrous works declare.
2Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits: 3Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases; 4Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies;
6The Lord executeth righteousness and judgment for all that are oppressed.7He made known his ways unto Moses, his acts unto the children of Israel.
12Marvellous things did he in the sight of their fathers, in the land of Egypt, in the field of Zoan. 13He divided the sea, and caused them to pass through; and he made the waters to stand as an heap.14In the daytime also he led them with a cloud, and all the night with a light of fire.15He clave the rocks in the wilderness, and gave them drink as out of the great depths.
25Man did eat angels’ food: he sent them meat to the full.
B
3O magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt his name together. 8O taste and see that the Lord is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him.

1 |103:15–16
The maximum of good is the infinite God and His idea, the All-in-all.
2 |3:22–24
Are we really grateful for the good already received? Then we shall avail ourselves of the blessings we have, and thus be fitted to receive more.
3 |78:28
Spirit blesses man, but man cannot “tell whence it cometh.” By it the sick are healed, the sorrowing are comforted, and the sinning are reformed. These are the effects of one universal God, the invisible good dwelling in eternal Science.
4 |12:31
In divine Science, where prayers are mental, all may avail themselves of God as “a very present help in trouble.” Love is impartial and universal in its adaptation and bestowals. It is the open fount which cries, “Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters.”
Are we really grateful for the good already received? Then we shall avail ourselves of the blessings we have, and thus be fitted to receive more.

Spiritual
guidanceAs the children of Israel were guided triumphantly through the Red Sea, the dark ebbing and flowing tides of human fear, — as they were led through the wilderness, walking wearily through the great desert of human hopes, and anticipating the promised joy, — so shall the spiritual idea guide all right desires in their passage from sense to Soul, from a material sense of existence to the spiritual, up to the glory prepared for them who love God.
7 |254:31
Pilgrim on earth, thy home is heaven; stranger, thou art the guest of God.
Section 2
The Bible
1And God spake all these words, saying,2I am the Lord thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. 3Thou shalt have no other gods before me.
6 |Exodus 23:25
25And ye shall serve the Lord your God, and he shall bless thy bread, and thy water; and I will take sickness away from the midst of thee.
57thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
14And Jesus went forth, and saw a great multitude, and was moved with compassion toward them, and he healed their sick.
1And it came to pass, as he went into the house of one of the chief Pharisees to eat bread on the sabbath day, that they watched him.2And, behold, there was a certain man before him which had the dropsy.3And Jesus answering spake unto the lawyers and Pharisees, saying, Is it lawful to heal on the sabbath day? 4And they held their peace. And he took him, and healed him, and let him go;
12Then said he also to him that bade him, When thou makest a dinner or a supper, call not thy friends, nor thy brethren, neither thy kinsmen, nor thy rich neighbours; lest they also bid thee again, and a recompence be made thee.13But when thou makest a feast, call the poor, the maimed, the lame, the blind:14And thou shalt be blessed;

10 |Matthew 10:8, 42 whosoever
8Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give.
42whosoever shall give to drink unto one of these little ones a cup of cold water only in the name of a disciple, verily I say unto you, he shall in no wise lose his reward.

8 |325:7
Jesus gave the true idea of being, which results in infinite blessings to mortals.
9 |94:1–3
Jesus taught but one God, one Spirit, who makes man in the image and likeness of Himself,—of Spirit, not of matter.
10 |4:5
Efficacious
petitionsTo keep the commandments of our Master and follow his example, is our proper debt to him and the only worthy evidence of our gratitude for all that he has done. Outward worship is not of itself sufficient to express loyal and heartfelt gratitude, since he has said: “If ye love me, keep my commandments.”
11 |37:27
Hear these imperative commands: “Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect!” “Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature!” “Heal the sick!"
12 |366:30
Genuine
healingIf we would open their prison doors for the sick, we must first learn to bind up the broken-hearted. If we would heal by the Spirit, we must not hide the talent of spiritual healing under the napkin of its form, nor bury the morale of Christian Science in the grave-clothes of its letter. The tender word and Christian encouragement of an invalid, pitiful patience with his fears and the removal of them, are better than hecatombs of gushing theories, stereotyped borrowed speeches, and the doling of arguments, which are but so many parodies on legitimate Christian Science, aflame with divine Love.
13 |418:22
By the truthful arguments you employ, and especially by the spirit of Truth and Love which you entertain, you will heal the sick.
14 |570:14–18, 23–24
Receptive
heartsMillions of unprejudiced minds — simple seekers for Truth, weary wanderers, athirst in the desert — are waiting and watching for rest and drink. Give them a cup of cold water in Christ’s name, and never fear the consequences.
Those ready for the blessing you impart will give thanks.
Section 3
The Bible
11 |Philippians 4:6
6Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
12 |Matthew 5:6
6Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.
B
32Jesus called his disciples unto him, and said, I have compassion on the multitude, because they continue with me now three days, and have nothing to eat: and I will not send them away fasting, lest they faint in the way.33And his disciples say unto him, Whence should we have so much bread in the wilderness, as to fill so great a multitude?34And Jesus saith unto them, How many loaves have ye? And they said, Seven, and a few little fishes.35And he commanded the multitude to sit down on the ground.36And he took the seven loaves and the fishes, and gave thanks, and brake them, and gave to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude.37And they did all eat, and were filled: and they took up of the broken meat that was left seven baskets full.38And they that did eat were four thousand men, beside women and children.
B
8And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work:
11Being enriched in every thing to all bountifulness, which causeth through us thanksgiving to God.
Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures
15 |2:4–11, 15–16
Right
motivesAre we benefited by praying? Yes, the desire which goes forth hungering after righteousness is blessed of our Father, and it does not return unto us void.
Deity
unchangeableGod is not moved by the breath of praise to do more than He has already done, nor can the infinite do less than bestow all good, since He is unchanging wisdom and Love.
Prayer cannot change the Science of being, but it tends to bring us into harmony with it.
16 |15:26–30
Trustworthy
beneficenceSelf-forgetfulness, purity, and affection are constant prayers. Practice not profession, understanding not belief, gain the ear and right hand of omnipotence and they assuredly call down infinite blessings.
17 |7:23 The
The “divine ear” is not an auditory nerve. It is the all-hearing and all-knowing Mind, to whom each need of man is always known and by whom it will be supplied.
18 |206:15
In the scientific relation of God to man, we find that whatever blesses one blesses all, as Jesus showed with the loaves and the fishes, — Spirit, not matter, being the source of supply.
19 |494:10
Divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need. It is not well to imagine that Jesus demonstrated the divine power to heal only for a select number or for a limited period of time, since to all mankind and in every hour, divine Love supplies all good.
"...whatever blesses one blesses all..."

The Bible
15he that is of a merry heart hath a continual feast.
16 | Psalms 100:2, 4
2Serve the Lord with gladness: come before his presence with singing.
4Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.
17 | Isaiah 55:12
12For ye shall go out with joy, and be led forth with peace: the mountains and the hills shall break forth before you into singing, and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands.
16Rejoice evermore. 17Pray without ceasing.18In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
19 | I Corinthians 10:31
31Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.
Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures
20 | 3:25
Gratitude is much more than a verbal expression of thanks. Action expresses more gratitude than speech.
21 | 264:24
Spiritual
proofs of
existenceSpiritual living and blessedness are the only evidences, by which we can recognize true existence and feel the unspeakable peace which comes from an all-absorbing spiritual love.
22 | 57:18
Affection’s
demandsHappiness is spiritual, born of Truth and Love. It is unselfish; therefore it cannot exist alone, but requires all mankind to share it.
23 | 60:29–1
Soul has infinite resources with which to bless mankind, and happiness would be more readily attained and would be more secure in our keeping, if sought in Soul. Higher enjoyments alone can satisfy the cravings of immortal man.
24 | 234:4
Crumbs of
comfortWhatever inspires with wisdom, Truth, or Love — be it song, sermon, or Science — blesses the human family with crumbs of comfort from Christ’s table, feeding the hungry and giving living waters to the thirsty.
25 | 249:8–9
Renewed
selfhoodLet us rejoice that we are subject to the divine “powers that be.”
