When depressed about ourselves we are lost.
How about building up a feeling of purpose, as a grandmother did for her little grandson… she made an adventure for him by suggesting he pretended he was in a space pod and going off and finding good things to do for people.
We can do the same.
This is the way Jesus told us to think. He told us the Kingdom of God, is here, “and is within you”.
So what are we doing looking so desperately at the world around us as being all messed up?
Don’t we need to try to change ourselves first? Make ourselves pure, honest, tolerant; helping others instead of expecting to be helped.
When I did this with a group of friends I meet up with for sports activities my relationship with them loosened up. Instead of my wondering if my play was good enough I just tried not to take myself too seriously, and tried to talk about things that would interest them. I want us all to be friends despite our different backgrounds and beliefs.
So when they asked me if I had been vaccinated I didn’t want to be talking divisively so I just put my finger to my nose and said “Aha, That’s my business!” And they looked at me so kindly agreeing that it is an individual decision. And when someone fell badly I found I was the only one who went and cuddled the lady, so that when she came round I was able to whisper in her ear that God is loving her and looking after her. She immediately smiled and the others standing around looked amazed that she said she was not hurt at all!
